Why are engineered floors more feasible than hardwood floors?

The construction of our floor takes full advantage of the entire wear layer on each plank. As you can see in the picture wear layer is fully comparable in thickness to a 18mm solid wood floor, this is because sanding is only possible down to the tongue & grove in solid wood floor (6mm). The same sanding is possible in engineered floor with top layer of 6mm.

Result: with the same amount of wood we can produce 3 times the quantity of engineered floor compared to a solid wood floor thereby reducing the burden on the environment.

As we all know that wood is a living material that is affected by seasonal and climatic change. In India subcontinent temperature varies from 4-5 degree C to 45 – 47 degree C. Humidity land is very different in costal areas like Mumbai compared the plain like Delhi. These climatic changes leads to opening of joints / overlapping of joints in solid wood floor. In wood walk flooring the bottom layers of soft wood are engineered in such a way that the 6mm top layer of solid wood is subjected to least amount of seasonal movements.

Result: Over the years the finishing & Installation of Engineered floors is much more stable in comparison to solid wood floors.

In Engineered floors we have the luxury of wider and longer planks which is rarely possible in solid wood floors.

Result: More dimensional stable and visually appealing floor with the lesser joints.
